| Our Story |
| Vincent
Mirabilio Sr. first
opened Town & Country in 1971 in Woodbury, Connecticut. The
senior Mirabilio became familiar with the area while working for a
glass company in Waterbury, CT. He recognized the need for a glass
shop so, with all of his savings, he and his wife opened up their
own shop. |
At that time, Vincent
Jr. went to work with his father when he was discharged from the Air
Force. In 1976, the senior Mirabilio purchased a house on Main
Street North and moved the business to the barn in the back yard. As
the business continued to grow, he was able to begin sending people
to do projects outside the shop. The Mirabilio's made many friends
and became active members of the community. |
Upon retiring, Vincent
Sr. handed the business over to Vincent Jr., who decided to relocate
the business so his father could sell the property. Vincent Jr. and
his wife Cheryl kept their eyes open for a new location. Vin found a
perfect piece of undeveloped land adjacent to the local gas station,
and the Mirabilio's went to work to relocate the business. With the
help of friends in Woodbury, they received the approval of the town
and immediately began construction. Vin used as many local people as
possible, and many of the contractors were friends of the family.
They started clearing the lot in June. By December 1996, the new
shop was up and running. |
